AFTERCARE
Caring for your new tattoo can feel overwhelming, but I’m here to simplify the process for you. Let’s take it step by step together, so you can enjoy your beautiful artwork without the stress!
CLING WRAP METHOD
SECOND SKIN
Second skin is a protective film that many people use after getting a tattoo, acting like a barrier to keep your tattoo safe from dirt and bacteria while it heals. Second Skin is available on request for an additional fee, depending on the type of tattoo.
That’s it! If you have any questions or anything seems off, don’t hesitate to reach out to me. I want this tattoo looking as good as possible.
CLING WRAP METHOD
- When you get home, remove the cling wrap and wash the tattoo with un fragranced antibacterial soap and warm water. If you don’t have soap like this, avoid soap. Pat your tattoo dry with a clean towel and leave it to dry.
- Leave the tattoo to dry heal without ointments, moisturisers or creams for two days. After the tattoo has dried apply a small amount (pea-sized) of aftercare cream to the tattoo. Make sure that your hands are always clean when doing this.
- Keep your tattoo away from pets to avoid exposure to bacteria. If your tattoo does come into contact with your pet, be sure to wash the tattoo.
- After getting a tattoo, it’s important to be cautious with exercise. If exercising, listen to your body and don’t push yourself if feeling weak. I recommend taking it easy the first few days back and avoiding exercises in the area of the tattoo. Make sure to always wash thoroughly after exercising.
- Avoid all swimming, saunas, pools, oceans and creeks for 2 weeks following the tattoo.

First 24 Hours
- Leave the Second Skin on!
It’s designed to protect your tattoo from bacteria and keep it from drying out while it starts healing. - You might notice some fluid buildup under the bandage – totally normal. It’s just excess ink and plasma. Leave it alone; it’s doing its job.
After 24 Hours (or up to 3 days)
- Time to remove the Second Skin.
Here’s how:- Gently peel it off under warm running water. Start from the edge and go slow.
- If it sticks a bit, don’t yank it. Just take your time and keep it under the warm water to loosen it up.
After Removal
- Wash your tattoo with clean hands using a mild, fragrance-free soap. I like to recommend something like unscented liquid soap.
- Pat it dry with a clean paper towel – don’t rub!
Aftercare Routine
- For the next week or so, keep your tattoo moisturised with a thin layer of an unscented moisteriser, don’t overdo it. A light coat is perfect.
- Avoid direct sunlight, swimming, or soaking in any water (like baths or hot tubs) until it’s fully healed.
- Peeling and itching are totally normal as it heals. Just resist the urge to scratch or pick at it.
