Balazova Black is an artist who creates pieces inspired by the dark realms of life and beyond - black pen is their signature style. They are a Slovak / Australian artist based in Naarm (Melbourne).
Their artwork is all hand drawn and combines detailed illustration and painting techniques to create abstract pieces. Her work is often influenced by writing and musicians and begins from there. Creating art which can be interpreted through many different lenses depending on the viewer.
Their first solo exhibition in 2022 is influenced by the snake, the shedding of the scales reflecting a personal journey of internal change and self development.
They have previously exhibited with Acclaim Magazine, Honey Bones Gallery, BSIDE Gallery, Brunswick Street Gallery, Fort Art, Primary Arcade and The Brisbane Collective.
The land which I live and work on belongs to Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation. I pay my respects to their elders - past, present and emerging. Sovereignty was never ceded.
